Annotation summary	SLC1A3 (also known as GLAST or EAAT1) is a glutamate transporter, whose RNA transcripts are highly enriched in the human CNS, with widespread expression across numerous brain regions. In the mouse, immunohistochemical staining of astrocytes (endfeet) is observed in many regions throughout the brain, strongly in olfactory, thalamus, hypothalamus and cerebellum.
