CAMKV is a synaptic protein crucial for dendritic spine maintenance and synaptic plasticity in Hippocampus. According to available transcriptomic data, Its RNA levels are particularly high in basal ganglia, although its expression is generally abundant throughout the brain in human, mouse and pig. Particularly in mouse, distinct immunoreactivity is shown in synaptic fields and fibers in cortex, higher in basal forebrain and lower in mid- and hindbrain.
