Diffuse-synaptic and axonal immonostaining is noticed virtually in the entire brain with significant intensity differences (weak to strong).
The highest intensity staining is noticed in the core of the nucleus accumbens (medial part), lateral septum, some nuclei of the BNST, suprachiasmatic nucleus, central amygdala, medullar parabrachial- and lateral reticular nuclei.
Moderate staining is noticed in the anterior and tuberal hypothalamus, periaqueductal gray matter and in the molecular layer of the cerebellum.
Other regions exhibit weak immunoreactivity.
