Fumarate Hydratase (FH) RNA is widely expressed across many human organs (including brain), with higher levels in the liver, heart and skeletal muscle tissue. In the mouse, a wide range of neurons exhibit somatic immunoreactivity, of various intensities, in many brain regions. It is particularly strong in the septum, nuclei of BNST, neocortical layers IV-V, thalamic and hypothalamic paraventricular nuclei, amygdala, hippocampal CA2-3 layers, hypothalamic arcuate nucleus and multiple brainstem nuclei. Occasional apical dendrites of neocortical neurons are also immunoreactive while choroid plexus cells are stained positive too.
