During the Nobel week Google in collaboration with KTH hosted an event on AI and science in the spectacular underground Reactor Hall at KTH.

Lila Ibrahim, COO of Google DeepMind, the company behind the groundbreaking AI-based protein structure predictor AlphaFold that was awarded this year´s Nobel Prize in Chemistry, led an on-stage conversation together with Victor Galaz from Stockholm Resilience Center and KTH professors Mathias Uhlén and Ilaria Tesla where they discussed how AI is revolutionizing science and society.

Everybody in the discussion panel was positive towards AI and its potential to not only revolutionize science and industries, but also improve lives and address global challenges, but they also stressed the importance of simultaneously considering and working on the ethics side. On a question regarding future applications Mathias Uhlén responded that the number one on his wish list is to use AI to create a virtual cell.
