Transcription factor landscape - Brain region - Muscle cells
The expression profile of muscle cells or mural cells, pericytes and vascular associated smooth muscle cells, are compared to other cell types in the brain. Both pericytes and vascular associated smooth muscle cells (also called vascular smooth muscle cells (vSMC) share the function of importat vasculature support and circulation.
Transcriptome analysis shows that 71% (n=14355) of all human proteins (n=20162) are detected in mural cells and 890 of these genes show an elevated expression in any mural cells compared to other brain cell types. Learn more about genes with elevated expression in mural cells here. In-depth analysis of transcription factor genes expressed in mural cells highlights 86 transcription factors with elevated expression in mural cells compared to other cell types. In total, 1 transcription factors are classified as enriched in mural cells.
Here we provide the expression overview of all transcription factors that show enriched expression levels in neuronal clusters compared to other brain cluster types.
