Pediatric long COVID

Post-COVID-19 condition in children and adolescents is a syndrome occurring in individuals with a history of confirmed or probable SARS-CoV-2 infection. It is characterized by the persistence of symptoms for at least two months. These symptoms, which initially manifest within three months after the acute phase of COVID-19, may present either as new onset following recovery from the acute episode or may persist from the initial illness. Furthermore, they can fluctuate or relapse over time. In children and adolescents with post-COVID-19, the most commonly reported symptoms are fatigue, anosmia, and anxiety, though additional symptoms have also been reported. Post-COVID-19 can significantly impact daily functioning, affecting eating habits, physical activity, behavior, academic performance, social interactions, and developmental milestones.
