The axonal/dendritic immunostaining is virtually restricted to the brainstem. In the midbrain, the substantia nigra reticulata exhibits especially strong signal. The staining is the most prominent in the medulla where all regions are strongly immunostained.
In the forebrain, only the arcuate nucleus and the median eminence exhibit strong diffuse/synaptic-type immunostaining.
