Stong-intensity immunostaining of astrocytes mainly in the white matter but, in some cases (substantia nigra, hippocampus, globus pallidus, lateral septum and ventral pallidum), also in the gray matter, is noticed throughout the brain. Astroglial endfeet around the ventricle walls, pia mater, and in the region around area postrema are especially strongly imunoreactive. These data are in line with the published literature suggesting that ADRA1A may have a role in regulating gliogenesis.
