MAP6D1 is a brain-enriched protein with predominant expression in hippocampal and thalamic areas. Distinct localisation is also noted in various regions of midbrain and hindbrain. In addition, intense staining is seen in glial cells (presumably oligodendrocytes) from corpus callosum, an observation supported by available human and mouse transcriptomic data that show higher levels for MAP6D1 in this region.
