OTP RNA is highly enriched in the human CNS and more specifically in hypothalamic regions. In the mouse, strong neuronal nuclear immunolabelling is noticed in a very few distinct brain regions. More dense staining is noticed in the lateral septum (especially the dorsal part), anterior hypothalamus, hypothalamic paraventricular nucleus, tuberal hypothalamus - especially in the arcuate region, median amygdala. Sparse (but strong) nuclear staining is noticed in the frontal-, cingulate- and entorhinal cortices, in the periaqueductal gray matter and in the pontine reticular nucleus in the medulla.
