Strong intensity immunostaining of dense axonal networks and diffuse-synaptic immunostaining are noticed in the external/internal plexiform layers of the olfactory bulb, the ventral pallidum, globus pallidus, HDB, lateral septum, anterior hypothalamus, multiple amygdala nuceli and hypothalamic arcuate nucleus regions.
Moderate-weak intensity immunostaining of axonal networks and diffuse-synaptic immunostaining are noticed in any other gray-matter regions throughout the entire brain.
In addition, strong, seemingly peri-somatic immunostaining is noticed around a subset of neuronal cell bodies in the neocortex (especially in layer III and V), caudate putamen, amygdala nuclei, ventral hippocampus, substantia nigra and cerebellar Purkinje cells. Further confocal studies are needed to determine the exact subcellular distribution of this type of immuno-signal.
